FOOTBALL fans streaming matches for free could be putting themselves at risk of jail time under new law.
The Kodi box, which can be bought online for around £50, lets people stream live “pay to view” content free of charge.
Thousands of Brits use the set, as well as file-sharing websites like BitTorrent to watch sports as well as TV shows and films still showing in cinemas.
Many are unsure whether what they are doing is against the law.
Now, the government have issued its clearest guidance yet on what will, or won’t get people streaming illegal content put in prison.
It is pushing through a new bill which could see those infringing copyright receive ten year prison sentences, it has warned.
